August 22nd (Making Progress)

Every time I ask the babies pediatrician how he thinks the babies are doing he says they are making progress, he doesnt like to say things are going good...So to me that is better than hearing things arent going good or there is no progress! So anyways here is todays updates:

Jace was down to 4.0 liters of oxygen at 35% when I went in there today, it seems like they are slowly going down, the Dr. said yesterday if we can get the extra calories in him and get him to gain weight the lungs will get a lot stronger! He weighed in at 3lbs 1oz, he lost 30grams which is normal cause he had a huge gain a couple days ago...Hes eating 30ml of food every feeding and they are adding 24 calories of fortifier to the milk...they have been going in and out of his isolate for tests and he figured out how to rip his nasal cannula out so thats his new thing, so the past couple of days the nurses wanted me to leave him alone and let him gain weight and just sit in there, the more you stimulate them the more calories they burn and it will be longer till they can gain weight....so yesterday I got to do skin to skin (kangaroo care) with Jace for the first time in 2 days! It was so fun to hold him again!

Liam was on 21 liters at 24% of oxygen when I got in there today and a couple of times they moved him down to room air to see how he would do and he did pretty good...He would forget to breath sometimes still so they kept him at 24% just to get that extra help and so that hes not burning calories he doesnt need to...He is at 29ml of food and they moved his fortifier from 22 to 24 calories. He weighed 3lbs 4oz losing 35grams. I also did skin to skin today with Liam. 

Stella is still breathing on room air doing great...She weighed in at 3lbs 12oz, she gained 35 grams. She is getting 35ml of food and also getting the 24 calories of fortifier in her milk. We got to practice breast feeding again today, she is so funny...I love all there little different personalities already, it is so fun to watch them grow! =)
